Watch the video above to learn more about the challenges that adolescents living with HIV in Kenya are experiencing.
The need:
HIV remains the top cause of death for adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa. We are seeking urgent support to maintain health and social services for adolescents living with HIV at AMPATH. We are also seeking urgent support to maintain and expand sexual and reproductive health and social services at AMPATH for adolescents.
More information on the partnership:
Through the AMPATH Kenya partnership, the Arnhold Institute for Global Health is seeking vital support to improve the health and wellbeing of Kenyan adolescents. Much of the adolescent-focused work that we do is anchored at the pioneering MTRH Rafiki Center of Excellence for Adolescent Health. Established in November 2016, the MTRH Rafiki Center is a combined adolescent medicine and research clinic that provides a ‘one stop shop’ for free reproductive health, mental health, management of chronic diseases, HIV prevention and treatment services, and life skills for adolescents in Eldoret, Kenya.
AMPATH has transformed its HIV care program into an integrated health care system that includes the treatment and control of HIV, but also reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health care, chronic disease management, such as, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and mental health services for more than 10.5 million people in western Kenya.
