At the Mount Sinai Health System, we acknowledge the value diversity brings to the research community and are committed to eliminating barriers many underrepresented groups face in the scientific field. Providing these groups the opportunity to learn in the organization helps them develop the experience and skills to further their career and enhances the scientific field. I'd like to ask for your support of a pilot program that will give underrepresented college students the unique experience of working at the Mount Sinai Neuropathology Brain Bank & Research CoRE lab.
The Mount Sinai Neuropathology Brain Bank & Research CoRE is offering four outstanding individuals full-time research assistant positions for summer 2021. These research assistants will be trained to deploy approaches to diagnose and study brain diseases (e.g., Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, COVID-19-related encephalopathy, etc.). They will also gain exposure to challenges associated with treatment modalities, diagnosis, and research design. The program cost to cover the research assistants' salaries total is $26,000 - $6,500 per student. You may sponsor a student or contribute any amount to help us reach our goal. I hope you will join us in bringing diversity and equity and thank you for your consideration.
