Thank you for landing on my webpage. After participating in 35 NYC marathons over 41 years, I think I have finally accepted my retired status. I get great enjoyment out of organizing and coaching the Team and cheering on Marathon Sunday. Watching these runners with the illness is truly inspiring.
The fundraising component is crucial to our work and fortunately that has continued regardless of me running the race. The Team has funded many projects and research in the IBD Center. In conjunction with Improve Care Now, we have done multiple studies looking at disease outcomes with different therapies. We are currently looking at the use of abdominal ultrasound in following patients with IBD. We have studied resilience and emotional health in our patients and better ways to transition to adult providers. We have added to the genetic database and we are looking at ways to predict disease among family members. We are trying to use precision medicine to personalize treatment. We are even looking at potential preventative strategies in susceptible family members. We have participated in routine drug trials as well as alternative trials with Chinese herbal preparations. It is all very exciting and if you would like to see more of what we are doing, please see the following link https://www.mountsinai.org/locations/ibd-center/research
You are also welcome to look through the pages of our current incredible runners and there are very moving stories. If you prefer to donate in their names, feel free but please drop me a line so that I can also thank you. Your generosity and spirit mean so much to the community on so many levels
This is a new chapter for me and I am going to make the most of it. My old story is included in the links below and the picture below is my son Jordan after the finish line in 2017. I was so fortunate to run eight NYC marathons with him and the memories will last forever. It makes a good story and it has been quite a run but there is further to go. Please join in and keep it going.
