The New York City Marathon is a charitable race!! My team--Team Andi--is running the New York City Marathon to raise money to support the patients and families at the Mount Sinai Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Team Andi is a charity near and dear to my heart. My friend Amy's daughter Andi was born 10 weeks early weighing just over 2 pounds. Baby Andi lived in Mount Sinai Hospital's NICU for almost 3 months. My friend Amy brought Andi into this world, but the NICU staff brought Andi to life.
Amy took her passion for running and combined it with her gratitude toward Mount Sinai's NICU and created TEAM ANDI. Since it started in 2014, Team Andi created the first private room at Mount Sinai Hospital East that can hold one family for overnight stays in the hospital's NICU while their baby is recovering. We're just a little team of 14 runners, but thanks to the support of donors like you, we now have a 2nd Team Andi Room at Mount Sinai Hospital West at 1000 Tenth Avenue.
We hope to create many rooms for future NICU parents to live with their newborns, hear them cry, smell them, hold them whenever they want, bathe them, and be there 24/7 with support from NICU staff.
We thank you for your generous support!
