I need your help and I can't do it alone.
This is my story ...
My name is Renee Huggins and March is Multiple Myeloma Awareness Month. Many people like me are diagnosed with this disease and it happens with no warning. After a year of suffering from excrutiating, random pain throughout my body, to the point that it had become difficult to walk and after seeing different specialists; I was finally diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. After I processed the word "cancer" and what that meant for me, the next step was finding the right doctor. The CEO at my job, Jerry Blaine, recommended I reach out to Dr. Jagannath. Jerry asked around his network of friends and was told the same thing - "he is the best!" Dr. Jagannath who I affectionately call "Dr. Save My Life" did just that! After intensive chemo treaments, surgeries and catching Covid, with his team he was able to get me cancer free! Although there is no cure, and the cancer will come back, I believe under the continued care of Dr. Jagannath I will live a long life.
I need your help and I can't do it alone. There are so many color ribbons that represent different types of cancer, and my color is burgundy. I am raising money to raise awareness of Multiple Myeloma and in addition, help support the research efforts of my doctor, Dr. Sundar Jagannath, Director of Mount Sinai’s Multiple Myeloma Program. As a person battling this disease, I am asking for your help to raise money to find a cure and keep groundbreaking research available for me and people like me to live longer.
My goal is to raise $10,000 towards his research and your gift will support the research efforts of Dr. Jagannath by offering new hope for Multiple Myeloma patients everywhere. It is my desire to have this fundraiser every year to fight for a cure. Help Me Fight, Help Me Win!!
For the 30,000 people in the United States who are affected by multiple myeloma each year, treatment resistance and relapse remain mostly inevitable. Mount Sinai’s physicians and scientists are committed to changing this reality.
Mount Sinai’s Multiple Myeloma Program is a leader in integrating patient care and translational research. Serving more than 500 new patients each year, it is the largest multiple myeloma center in New York City, and one of the largest in the country. In addition to providing care, Mount Sinai’s physician/scientists conduct laboratory research in cancer genetics, immunology, and cell biology that leads to new treatment approaches. The program runs the most clinical trials of any multiple myeloma program in the United States.
I appreciate any contribution you can give towards the research for this incurable cancer. Every dollar counts towards making a difference. With your help, one day it will be curable, and people like myself will live long lives.
Thank you
