Hi, I am excited to announce that this year, I will be running my first NYC Marathon with Team IBD Kids! As some of you may know or learning here, this foundation is extremely important to me and my family. My Nana battled Crohn’s Disease for over 50 years, and I was diagnosed five years ago this November.
The day I found out I had Crohn's is one that I will never forget. Prior to my diagnosis, I had spent the last year and a half of my life in chronic pain, unable to take care of myself. The constant uncertainty, pain, and limitations once defined my daily existence. However, after being diagnosed, I was fortunately able to find a doctor and treatment plan that worked for me. Although this condition will be with me for the rest of my life, I know that I am stronger than it. Now, I am determined to utilize my newfound strength to help others facing similar battles.
Above all, I want to express my deep appreciation for my Mom. She has personally accompanied me to every single one of my doctor's appointments to this day and ensured I received the best medical care in the world. Without her, I have no idea where I would be today.
I am grateful for any donation you can make, no matter how small or large. Your donations will help to continue research and treatment for young adults with Crohns and Colitis. One day I hope that no young adult will need to experience the pain and uncertainty of this disease.
And to my friends and family in New York, I hope to see you cheering for me and Team IBD Kids on November 5th!
