Born on September 18, 1956 in York, PA, he was the son of the late A. Burnell and Doris L. Church. Greg attended Rider College in Lawrenceville, NJ where he graduated with a BS and MBA in Finance and was a star on the Division I tennis team. He was a member of the Phi Sig Epsilon fraternity where he forged lifelong friendships that stood the test of time, with many brothers standing by his side until the very end. He later went on to serve as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Finance.
In 1986, Gregory founded Church Capital Management and with his foresight and exceptional skill, charted the course for a flourishing career. He then established Bainbridge Securities Inc. and developed the Church Capital Value Trust, stamping his mark as a visionary in the financial realm. He was often sought after by top-tier media outlets like Bloomberg, CNBC, CNN, Fortune, Forbes, Business Week and the Wall Street Journal. He served on the Board of Directors for the Grey Nuns of Sacred Heart, Bucks Beautiful, Hopewell Valley Community Bank, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of Rider University and as a Chairman of the Michener Art Museum Board of Trustees.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gregory was a true Renaissance man, with many passions. A connoisseur of the arts, fine wine, baseball cards, old currency and Grateful Dead concert posters, his collections were more than mere possessions; they were reflections of his zest for life and appreciation for the world's diverse beauties. Most of all, he loved with his family, spending summers in Ocean City, collecting baseball cards with Michael, going to Greatful Dead concerts with Morgan and traveling with Maureen.
Above all, Gregory cherished his role as a grandfather. His grandchildren, Henry, William, and Caroline, were the lights of his life, each moment with them treasured and filled with love. His stories, wisdom, and the joy he shared with them will be a guiding light for years to come.
Along with his wife Maureen (nurse and caregiver), he will be forever loved and missed by his children, Michael Church and his wife (like a second daughter) Lindsay of Bryn Mawr, PA, his beloved and devoted daughter Morgan Church of Yardley, PA; grandchildren, Henry, William and Caroline; brother David Church and his late wife Dani; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Abouchedid and her husband Claude; brother-in-law, Tom O'Brien and his wife Beverly; his niece, nephews, extended family members and a large group of lifelong friends that became family.
As we bid farewell to Greg, let us remember his magnetic personality, infectious charisma, quick wit and playful banter that will forever be etched in our hearts. While his light is no longer present in this world, it will shine on through our countless memories and in the lives of all those he touched. Fare thee well, we love you more than words can tell.
