As many of you know, the marathon is my favorite day in NYC. After each event, I say "wouldn't it be fun to do this". Only when I started running seriously a few years ago did it become more than just a throwaway comment. Running brings me so much peace and joy, and I can't wait to participate in my first marathon this fall. Read on to learn about the cause I have decided to support!
I am raising money to support the Mount Sinai Health System. Mount Sinai is reimagining what is possible and redefining the practice of modern medicine, both in our local community and across the world.
More specifically, I am running with Team Andi. The team was established in 2014 after the daughter of the team's founder spent her first three months in the NICU at Mount Sinai. Through its fundraising, Team Andi has already created two private NICU rooms for families and hopes to create more rooms for parents to live with their newborn, hear them cry, smell them, hold them whenever they want, bathe them, and be there 24/7, all with the support of the NICU staff.
