Since being diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2019, I've navigated various treatments - from steroids to immunotherapy and mild chemotherapy - each accompanied by its own set of side effects.
Inflammatory bowel disease has deeply impacted my family, with several of us battling this condition, now more than ever. That's why I'm thrilled to announce my participation in the 2024 New York Marathon to support Mount Sinai's Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit, dedicated to helping teens and kids with IBD. As I was too diagnosed as a teen, I am incredibly proud to run for Mount Sinai a leader in the field in both treatment and groundbreaking research on IBD. The Mount Sinai Health System relies on community support to help make possible our essential work of outstanding clinical care, innovative research initiatives and more.
Currently, I am medication-free for the first time since my diagnosis, with my doctor noting my colon looking good as new. Running has not only boosted my physical well-being - having now been symptom-free since October, marking my longest period of remission - but it's also been great for my mental health.
I'm honored to run for an organization that holds such a personal significance for myself and my family, and I would greatly appreciate any contribution to my fundraising efforts. Please donate to this worthy cause, with any donation no matter how big or small making a difference. Together, we can fuel vital research, and hopefully, one day find a cure for this disease that touches the lives of so many so close to me.
